If you are anything like me, then having an organizational method to your holiday and Christmas shopping takes a lot of stress out of the task. And I love checking a box for “done”! This year I am utilizing an app on my phone that is already in place for all of my shopping lists: Cozi. Have you heard of it? The app has many functions, but my favorite is the “Shopping” section. I organize my lists by place of shopping such as “Safeway” or “Wal-Mart” or “Hobby Lobby”. Within these individual shopping lists, you can easily build your own sections to your liking. One of the best parts is that you can access this list from anywhere that you have your phone, so no need to remember the sheet of paper with handwritten ideas.
To get started, I created a new shopping list that I called “Gifts” (see in the navy blue below). From there I created my sub-sections (see in the orange-red below): Stocking Stuffers, Jolly Man, Christmas. Other ideas would be: Teacher/coach gifts, Parents, Cousins, etc. For this mock up of my shopping list, I was typing a little in code just in case I have an eager child reading this post.
From there, I typed out my shopping list, each item included: 1st) who is the gift for, 2nd) what is the gift, and 3rd) where do I plan to purchase the gift. In my real-time shopping list for these gifts, I have further gone in and sorted this portion of the shopping list alphabetically so that, for example, all of my husband’s gift items are sorted together. This type of organization helps me stay accountable for what has already been purchased as well as allowing me to file away a gift idea.
