5 Speakers I Can’t Miss at FinCon 2018

I’m excited to be attending my first FinCon, with my hubby, in September. It’s our kind of getaway these days. I have the highest hopes for learning and growing.

Here are the speakers I won’t be able to miss.

1. Mr. Money Mustache

He’ll be part of the panel discussion, “Four Flavors of FIRE.” – “These successful bloggers each reached financial independence in a unique way. We’ll discuss how FIRE can be created from different backgrounds, salaries, and ages, and how your story can be framed in a way that engages your audience.”

And

The FinCon Big Idea speaker after the keynote on the final day for, “A Conversation with Mr. Money Mustache.”

2. Mindy and Carl Jensen – Mrs. and  Mr. 1500 Days

3. Darren Rowse: ProBlogger

He’ll be presenting solo in, “10 Things I Wish I’d Known about Creating Content When I Started.” Where he’ll discuss:

– setting aside time for 3 main activities ‘ideas’, ‘creating’ and ‘finishing’ content
– creating momentum on a blog
– the power of looking after your archives as part of your content strategy
– how to humanize your writing
– how to make your content stand out from the crowd by using story, vulnerability, opinion, and voice
– the importance of creating content that looks good (embeddable content, scannable, content design etc)
– multi-media content (can talk a little about how I’ve gone from blogger to broaden my approach with audio + video)
– the power of practice
– how to create memorable content

4. Paula Pant: Afford Anything

She’ll be part of the panel discussion, “Freelance Writing 101: What Every Rookie Needs to Know.” – Every year, a new crop of writers enter the freelance marketplace. They start out eager and ready to work, but soon basic questions begin to flood their minds. How do I find new clients? How do I pitch stories – and where do I get new ideas? Is it ok to negotiate or will it make me look bad? What is an editor really looking for? All these questions will be answered in our session so every rookie leaves feeling empowered and ready to start their freelance writing journey.

5. Scott Trench – BiggerPockets
