I believe it, and you should to. We all have clutter and stuff…stuff that we use on an ongoing basis, and if you are like me, there are some items that belong on the counter for ease. Like the kitchen counter spray—Love Branch Basics!…because I will, in fact, clean off the counters at least four times throughout the day. Add the bottle of cleaning spray to the crisp, white cake stand and add the basil and rosemary herbs…there you have a thoughtful ensemble. What you don’t see in this picture is the sink drain also tucked away between the herbs. This one was purchased with a coordinating platter from Home Goods many years back.
My bottle of wine and the cookbooks that I am cooking out of for the week also belong on the counter. It would not be my style to tuck away these items. I’d forget which cookbook houses the recipe(s) of the week, or I’d end up with three opened bottle of wines because I would have overlooked the already opened one. Put something on a cake stand or in a cute vintage Pepsi crate, and it looks purposeful. Like you chose to leave the clutter on your counter. Like you chose to make a statement with your belongings. The glass vase full of corks does pair nicely with the bottle of wine. It looks contained. It is contained.
I do love cake stands. I love cake stands so much in fact that at my wedding, we did not have one cake. We had multiple flavors of cakes to adorn many unique cake stands…nearly all bought at the local flea market. Happy organizing.
